In my view: Shadow Theatre – a multilingual storytelling workshop
On Sunday 11 October from 1 pm to 3 pm, Hafnarborg and GETA are hosting a multilingual storytelling workshop where participants will create characters and tell…
Saturday, 7th October, 2-4 pm We welcome you to an open workshop at Hafnarborg, where the artist Sindri Ploder and the curator Iris Stefanía Skúladóttir will be welcoming guests at the exhibition If I were a monster, which is currently on display at the museum in connection with Art Without Borders. There, visitors have the opportunity to chat with the curator and an artist about the exhibition and the works, as well as to draw their own monster. You will also be able to get advice from an artist, who may even draw their own monster with visitors.
At the exhibition itself, visitors are led into Sindri's visual and mental world, who was earlier this year named the artist for the 2023 Borders of Art festival. Sindri has been drawing monsters since the age of twelve, primarily using pen and paper, but more recently has also translated his drawings into three-dimensional works, creating sculptures in wood, ceramics, mosaic and textiles. Many of Sindri's works are self-portraits, where a playful, bold and defiant joy is plain to see. The twinkle in Sindri's eye is reflected in the drawings, which captivate the viewer at first glance.
Sindri Ploder (b. 1997) has taken part in numerous exhibitions since 2016, most recently in the exhibition *Fragments of Another Kind of Knowledge*, which was shown at Nýlistasafnið at the beginning of the year. Sindri first took part in a group exhibition organised by Art Without Borders in 2017, where he collaborated with the designer Mundi Vonda. Sindri also participated in List án landamæra in 2019, 2020 and 2022, where he exhibited drawings, a wool mat and wooden sculptures. In 2019, he took an art course at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts and subsequently had a work in a group exhibition at the school. Sindri has since been studying art with Fjölmennt.
Free admission – all are welcome.
