Hafnarfjörður is holding an information meeting at the Bæjarbíó on Wednesday, 12 June at 17 regarding a new agreement between the municipality and HS Orka on the exploration and utilisation of resource rights in Krýsuvík for the production of hot water, fresh water and electricity. At the same time, ideas for a resource park and potential infrastructure development in the area will be presented. The City of Hafnarfjörður owns Krýsuvík, a valuable recreational area and a popular destination for tourists, and the emphasis will be on ensuring that all development blends well with the environment, and that the area's unique character is preserved and allowed to flourish.
Agenda for the promotional meeting
- 5 p.m. Opening – Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, Mayor of Hafnarfjörður.
- At 5:10 p.m. Geothermal power production in Krýsuvík – location and facts about the power station. Ásbjörn Blöndal, Managing Director of the Development and Resources Division at HS Orka.
- 5:30 p.m. Potentials and opportunities associated with energy production in Krýsuvík – resource flows, outdoor recreation, eco-friendly tourism and green activities. Axel Viðarsson, Senior Project Manager, Development and Resources Division, HS Orka.
- 6 p.m. End of the meeting.
The chairman is Skarphéðinn Orri Björnsson, chairman of the Planning and Building Council and chairman of the steering group for the development in Krýsuvík. The building opens at 16:30.
