Happiness Plant Walk at Ástjörn
Thursday, 26th September at 17:30, departing from Ásvellir (main entrance).
Biodiversity in urban areas
Join us for a one-hour guided walk where the importance of preserving green spaces for both plant and bird communities, as well as for human well-being, will be explored.
In the walk, participants will learn about:
– The importance of maintaining a network of green spaces throughout the city.
– Edible plants that are easy to identify and use, along with advice on when and how to forage for them in urban areas.
– Management of „problem“ plants.
– Urban birds and their habitats.
The walk is conducted mostly in English. Whether you are a seasoned nature lover or just curious about your surroundings, this event offers something for everyone.
Mariana Tamayo, Associate Professor at the University of Iceland, botanist Mervi Luoma and urban ornithologist Rebecca Thompson, in collaboration with the Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður, are leading the Happiness Plant Walk in Hafnarfjörður.
