K.óla (Katrín Helga Ólafsdóttir) is a 24-year-old artist from Hafnarfjörður.
She has released two albums with her band Milkhouse, Baratís í paradís (2015) and Painted Mirrors (2017). She has also self-released two albums in handmade sleeves.
She started practising classical piano at the age of nine and later jazz piano, but she never felt comfortable reading music and began writing her own songs instead of practising. She later found her artistic outlet when she joined the band Milkhouse in 2012 and the MH Theatre Society, where she composed the soundtrack and conducted a five-piece band in 2016. Later that same year, she began studying composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, where her tutor is the renowned Ingi Sigurbjörnsson.
She has written two books, one poetry collection with two other authors, Mót (2016), and another book of conversation, Nettspeki (2018). Her compositions often include theatrical elements, costumes and graphic scores. Her solo career is about doing things she finds fun, such as playing the bass, making music videos, sewing books and working with other artists.
