Patriotic songs are a mirror of a nation's history, reflecting its most important moments. They portray the formation of a national identity and the country's pride, through references to key historical events.

Given the complex and multifaceted history of the Commonwealth, thousands of patriotic songs have been created over the centuries, which have survived in Polish culture to this day. They evoke both important, joyous moments and the difficult and sorrowful fate of occupied Poland.

On the occasion of this year's Independence Day, on Saturday, 11th November, the municipal library in Hafnarfjörður is organising a family concert of Polish patriotic songs, to which we warmly invite everyone who would like to listen, sing along, chat and celebrate our country's regaining of Independence.

We start at 12:00.

Long live an independent Poland!
