Tuesday, 6 October at 12 We warmly welcome you to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg, where... Rósalind Gísladóttir guest Antonia Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series.

Rósalind Gísladóttir, soprano/mezzo-soprano, studied at the Reykjavík Singing School, where Ólöf Kolbrún Harðardóttir and Kolbrún Sæmundsdóttir were her principal teachers. After completing her studies there, she went to Spain where she studied singing with Cristina Beatriz Carlin in Madrid and Maria Dolors Aldea in Barcelona. She most recently took lessons from Kristján Jóhannsson, but has also had private lessons and attended masterclasses with Miguel Zanetti, Janet Williams, David Jones, Martin Isepp, André Orlowitz, Robin Stapleton and Donald Kaash.

In 2012, Rósalind came first in the Barry Alexander Vocal International Competition and was subsequently invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York. She took part in a performance by Ragnar Kjartansson at Performa 11 in New York in 2011, which was selected as one of the 10 most remarkable art performances of the year, and a recording of the event was later shown at the Arts Festival in 2012. Rósalind has also sung at numerous concerts and performances, including for the Op-hópurinn, at lunchtime concerts for the Icelandic Opera and Hafnarborg, for Tíbrá at Salnum, as well as performing abroad. She also sang with the choir of the Icelandic Opera in almost all performances from 2011-2023 and toured with the Icelandic Opera to Hungary and Denmark with the production Brothers by Daníel Bjarnason.

Antonia Hevesi, a pianist, has been the artistic director of the lunchtime concerts at Hafnarborg since their inception, and they have been a regular feature of the museum's programme since 2003. There, Antonía has been joined by many of the country's leading singers, with the aim of the concerts being to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music at their leisure. The lunchtime concerts are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert starts at 12 noon and will last for about half an hour. The venue opens at 11:30 am and the concert is open to all, subject to capacity. Admission is free.
