Christmas is just around the corner – and our friend, the Lapland Santa Claus, is coming to visit in the midst of the Christmas preparations to meet his brother from the mainland, Saint Nicholas, who is in the country to say hello to the children! The two friends will be with us from 13:00, giving out presents, taking photos, playing games and telling stories. Everyone is, of course, very welcome.
On this day, we're also going to be frying flatbread! Now's the time to turn up and make your mark, but we'll have pans, irons and knives, and of course a pot and a hearth for frying and pressing. Participation is, of course, free of charge, but registration is required – so we know how much dough to roll out! Register at bokasafn@hafnarfjordur.is
_____________
Santas, Jule Lads and Leaf Bread!
Christmas is coming – and our good friend, Yulelad Kertasnýkir, will be visiting us during the preparations, along with his colleague from the mainland, St. Mikołaj, who will come all the way from Poland to meet us! They will arrive at 13:00, give out small treats, tell tales and pose for photos. Everyone is most lovingly welcome!
On this day, we will also be making Laufabrauð, an Icelandic custom of cutting designs into thin wheat cakes that are then eaten at Christmas. Participation is naturally free of charge and all materials are provided, but please register your attendance at bokasafn@hafnarfjordur.is so we can plan for the amount of dough needed.
