Vitality Day – 28 September 2024
The Snowdrifters, who run the charity Lífskraftur, in collaboration with 66°North and the City of Hafnarfjörður, are organising Lífskraftur Day on Saturday, 28th September, on the land of Helgafell in Hafnarfjörður. The day will feature various activities for visitors and passers-by, as well as the Lífskrafts jumper, produced in collaboration with 66°North, being on sale.
The aim of the day is to show solidarity against cancer, as well as to highlight the importance of the outdoors and self-empowerment in rehabilitation during and/or after illness.
The programme starts at 10 a.m. with the sale of the Life Force Jumper and short speeches from the mayor and Snjódrífa. A DJ will also entertain guests with fun music.
Three types of exercise will be on offer in the area, and all exercise groups will set off at 11:00:
RUN – The run will be past Helgafell and Valahnúkar to Húsfell, from there to Búrfellsgjá, and then back to the car park at Helgafell.
Cycling – We will cycle to and along the Valahnúkar, then to Helgafell and around the hill, finishing at the car park at Helgafell.
WALK – The walk will be up Helgafell via the so-called ravine, returning to the car park by the same route. Two walking groups will be available, one faster and the other slower.
The Pink Life Force Jumper will be on sale during the event. It costs 16,000 kr. and all proceeds from the sale will go to individuals and families dealing with cancer.
The area around Helgafell is absolutely fantastic for the outdoors and is suitable for both young and old.
Find your vitality and move with us in support of the fight against cancer.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. See the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1551086259170970
