Ásvallalaug will be open late and will offer a fun programme for the Night at the Pool on Saturday, 4th February from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Visitors to Ásvallalaug will get to experience a unique evening where light, darkness and joy will reign supreme. Guests are encouraged to take part by dancing and singing to begin with, before relaxing and enjoying the moment as the evening progresses.
Programme at Ásvallalaug for the swimming pool night:
- 17:00 The Sassy Zumba Bunnies host Aqua Zumba
- At 5 pm and 8 pm, a water balloon contest: who can get the biggest splash?
18:00-20:00: Water polo, water polo balls and more fun activities, courtesy of the Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club. - At 6 p.m., the National Film Archive of Iceland shows live footage from its collection from all over the country and from Hafnarfjörður on a giant screen.
- 8 pm Open-air cinema! The Dugghulu People, presented by the National Film Archive of Iceland.
The film The Dugghulu People is a modern-day adventure about Kalli, a twelve-year-old city kid who spends most of his time in front of screens. When Kalli is sent to the Westfjords to stay with his dad on a remote farm, the virtual adventures of the screen world turn into a real-life adventure where mysterious creatures – the Dugghulu people – roam free.
Swimming will be free at Ásvallalaug from 17:00 to 22:00 and in many swimming pools in the capital region. Swimming Pool Night is part of the Winter Festival – www.vetrarhatid.is – which is taking place from 2nd to 5th February. All municipalities in the capital region are taking part in the festival. The events in the swimming pools will be of a diverse nature, and visitors will get to experience a unique and unusual evening in the magical darkness.
