„To mark the centenary of Hellisgerði, the public park of Hafnarfjörður, our siblings Kristbergur and Oddrún Pétursbörn are holding an art exhibition at Litla Gallerý, 19 Strandgata, Hafnarfjörður. We would also like to remember our paternal grandmother, Guðmundína Oddrún Oddsdóttir, who lived in a small, cottage-style house in the garden from 1950 to 1980. At that time, the house, or rather the cottage, was simply called Reykjavikurvegur 15b, but today it is known as Litla Álfabúðin.
We had a special spot at Grandma's house in Hellisgerði, and there we would often sit by the parlour window with paper, paints and all sorts of children's crafts while Grandma baked pancakes, hummed tunes and told stories from her own childhood. The garden was a world of wonder that we experienced through all the seasons. In the floral splendour of summer and the abundance of visitors, in the beauty of the autumn colours as the short days drew in, and under a star-lit sky in the winter's silence, until the light returned and spring brought new life.
The works have all been created especially for this exhibition.Kristbergur He studied at the Iceland Academy of the Arts from 1979 to 1985 and at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam from 1985 to 1988. He is a member of the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists and the Nýlistasafnið. He has published books of his work and one poetry collection. He has received an artist's grant four times.Oddrún studied at the School of Visual Arts in Akureyri from 1985-86 and the Iceland Academy of the Arts from 1986-90, where she graduated from the Painting Department.
