Ideas that come to mind in the dead of night become a new artwork in colour or black and white.

Aðalheiður studied at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Crafts from 1967-1970 and at Konstfack in Stockholm from 1977-1980, graduating as a textile designer. She studied graphic arts and dyeing at the Konstnärernas kollektiva verkstad in Stockholm from 1979 to 1980. She taught on the textile department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts from 1982 to 1987 and at the Reykjavík Art School from 1982 to 1985. She worked as a teacher of children's art at the Hafnarfjörður Primary School from 1990 to 2017.

From 1999 to 2005, she ran the Little Art School for children in Hafnarfjörður. Aðalheiður is a member of the Association of Icelandic Artists (SÍM) and has been a member of Íslensk Grafík for many years. Along with other artists, Aðalheiður ran Gallery Langbrók from 1983 to 1985, Listhús 39 in Hafnarfjörður, and Meistari Jakob in Reykjavík from 1994 to 2004. Since 2005, she has run Gallery Múkka and a studio at Fornubúðir 8, by the small boat harbour in Hafnarfjörður. Aðalheiður has held around 30 solo exhibitions in Iceland, Finland and Sweden. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, both international and national design and graphic exhibitions in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Estonia, Germany, Croatia, China, Italy and France.

Aðalheiður was an artist-in-residence in Turku, Finland in 1990, and in Loviisa, Finland in 2010 and 2015. Aðalheiður works in various media. In her printmaking, she uses mixed media in monoprint, and her watercolour paintings feature countless shades of colour and patterns that are dear to her and are drawn from nature. She also works with collage in acrylic and paper, fantasy-like miniatures and larger works. In recent years, she has also worked with handicrafts, graphic boxes in cardboard and Icelandic pine, as well as small birds in clay and driftwood. She remains passionate about screen printing, and new patterns inspired by nature have emerged. She has, for example, created cushions as unique pieces of craftsmanship. Working with children in art has been a great source of inspiration for her creative process.

The exhibition opening will be on Thursday, 5th December from 18:00-20:00 and all are welcome!

From 1979 to 1980, she studied graphics and colouring at the Konstnärernas kollektiva verkstad in Stockholm. She taught at the Textile Department of The Icelandic College of Art and Crafts from 1982 to 1987. During the same period, she also taught at the Reykjavík School of Arts. She was an art teacher at Hvaleyrarskóli in Hafnarfjörður from 1990 to 2017.

She ran her own art school for children, „The Little Art School for Children,“ from 1999 to 2005.
Aðalheiður is a member of the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (SÍM) and has long been a member of The Icelandic Printmakers Association (Íslensk Grafík). She has been involved in running several galleries with other artists: – Gallery Langbrók from 1983 to 1985 – Arthouse (Listhús) 39 in Hafnarfjörður 1994–2004 – Meistari Jakob Gallery Reykjavík 1994–2004 Today, Aðalheiður runs her own workshop and studio called Múkki, established in 2005. It is located in her hometown of Hafnarfjörður, situated in the beautiful surroundings of Hafnarfjörður Marina. The address is Fornubúðir 8. Aðalheiður has held around 30 solo exhibitions in Iceland, Finland, and Sweden. She has taken part in many group exhibitions, both international and Icelandic. Aðalheiður has worked in various workshops across Scandinavia to broaden her artistic horizons and enhance her skills and technique. In her graphics, she uses mixed techniques, and in her watercolour works, you can find countless nuances of colour and patterns inspired by nature. She also works with clip-art in acrylic and paper, creating fantasy-like artwork both small and large. In recent years, she has also created handicrafts, including graphic cans in paper and Icelandic Pinewood, as well as small birds made of clay and driftwood. Aðalheiður maintains a strong passion for cloth printing, creating new patterns inspired by the Icelandic nature she loves dearly. She has printed her artwork on pillows and various other textiles, creating unique handicrafts. One of Aðalheiður's biggest inspirations in the visual arts has been working with children, which has been very motivating for her creative process.

The exhibition opening is on the 5th of December from 18:00-20:00 and all are welcome!
