The vitality and vibrancy of the arts scene in Hafnarfjörður is reflected in the event Walk into Town on Friday, 2 June at 18:00-21:00, when artists, designers and craftspeople open their studios to visitors, and museums and shops in the town centre will be open late.

  • Gára Handicrafts, Fornubúðir 8. Beautiful handmade pottery by six female potters.
  • Hafnarfjörður Icehouse, Strandgata 90. The operations of the Hafnarfjörður Icehouse consist of 30 workshops and studios for sole traders and small businesses in creative industries. The range is extremely diverse and the building is home to, among other things, ceramics, graphic design, product design, writing, shipbuilding and goldsmithing.
  • Annríki, national costumes and jewellery, 73 South Street. Guests are invited to a walking tour of the town with Annríki, where a diverse costume collection will be on display and information will be provided by the Annríki couple, Hildur and Ás.
  • St. Jó's Quality of Life Centre, 41 South Street. At St. Jó, a team of professionals and organisations works to improve people's quality of life. We offer a very diverse range of services. These include various counselling and talk therapy, education, massage, healing, hypnotherapy, a range of pregnancy health services, and physiotherapy. In addition, the Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's and the Bereavement Association support us with their diverse and important work. A warm welcome.
  • Genau Studio, 43 Strandgata. The sisters Katrín Þórey Gullsmiður and Elísabet María, a fashion designer, give a warm welcome to guests.
  • Hafnarborg, 34 Strandgata. Visitors will be invited for a behind-the-scenes look at the museum while new exhibitions are being installed, which will open on Saturday 10 June at 14:00: *On the Sea of Stillness* by Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson and *Hesitant Lines* by Elísabet Brynhildardóttir.
  • Edda's Yarn Shop, 39 Strandgata.
  • The Little Pet Shop, 32 Strandgata. Anything for the animals!
  • Penninn Eymundsson, 31 Strandgata.
  • Lilja Boutique, 21 Strandgata. Sells ladies' clothing from Paris and Italy, also accessories such as scarves and jewellery.
  • The Little Gallery, 19 Strandgata. Litla Gallerý is a Hafnarfjörður-based platform for artists who seek to present their professional art to the public, thereby becoming an active participant in Icelandic contemporary art. An exhibition of works by Svava Daggar (SVAVS) is currently on display. The works in this exhibition are the result of the last ten months, during which she has sought to explore people and what they say without explicitly saying it. The exhibition is open until 21:00 and all are most welcome.
  • The Little Design Shop, 19 Strandgata. The Little Design Shop will be open until 21:00. There will be light refreshments and a good time throughout the evening, so you're very welcome <3
  • Zkrem, 17 Strandgata.
  • The Sufficient, Strandgata 9. Finally, evening opening hours are back! The Soofist is welcoming summer and the White Nights with authentic Danish smørrebrød. In collaboration with the talented Hafnarfjörður chef, Ragnar Pétursson, we're hosting a pop-up kitchen serving a selection of premium smørrebrød. Pop in and tantalise your taste buds with our selection of exquisite sandwiches all summer long!
  • Hafnarfjörður Library, Strandgata 1. Workshops, art exhibitions, a music corner and more fun for visitors at the Library.
  • Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History, 6 Vesturgata. The Packhouse usually has three exhibitions running at once: a permanent exhibition on the town's history, a toy exhibition, and a themed exhibition which currently focuses on the police in Hafnarfjörður. Free admission.
