Government Action Plan on the Affairs of Older People

'A Good Age' is the title of the government's action plan on matters concerning older people. Part of this is to develop services for citizens in line with changing needs and the modern era. One of the actions concerns a nationwide information portal with details of all services for older people. Cooperation has already begun with Digital Iceland on this action, and the first outcome can be seen on Ísland.is. This is a so-called life event, which is titled Growing old and contains information about services for older people and their rights.

Future planning of information on services for older people

As the groundwork is being laid for the future framework of information on services for older people in this country, it is important to get the insights of those familiar with the service, whether in social or health care. The 'Gott að eldast' project team has therefore asked for the assistance of staff from social and health services across the country, asking them to send their suggestions for the website to the following email address: gottadeldast@frn.is

In addition, the municipalities of Árborg, Akranes and Hafnarfjörður have already begun a formal collaboration with Gott að eldast for the aforementioned action. The aim of this work is to analyse the presentation of information on home care services and the activities of older people, and to make recommendations for standardised wording and the layout of service offerings on the municipalities' websites.
