Gleðigangan 2026 with the City of Hafnarfjörður

News

Everyone is warmly welcome to walk with the City of Hafnarfjörður in the Pride Parade 2026. As in previous years, the city will have its own float in the parade, and together we celebrate diversity, respect, and the right for everyone to be exactly who they are. Last year, the elves and Vikings were a huge hit when they took part in the Pride Parade for the first time, and they will of course be returning this year.

Queer Hafnarfjörður – together we create a better town

Want to take part? All you have to do is turn up at Hallgrímskirkja, find the Hafnarfjörður group and walk with us. Last year, the elves and Vikings were a huge hit when they took part in the Pride Parade for the first time, and they are of course returning again this year. As before, the town car will be beautifully decorated and together we will create a colourful and memorable atmosphere where joy, diversity and solidarity can flourish.

Highlight of Pride Week

The Pride Parade is one of the highlights of Pride Week and an important opportunity to show support for a community where everyone is free to be themselves. The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður emphasises respect, equality and diversity – because that is how we build an even better town.

Practical information

• The Pride Parade takes place on Saturday, 8th August at 14:00.
• Meet at 13:00 in front of Hallgrímskirkja.
• Official T-shirt. In front of Hallgrímskirkja, you will be able to collect a T-shirt and decorations before setting off. If you have a T-shirt from previous years, we encourage you to wear it.

Hafnarfjörður encourages residents, staff and all interested parties to turn out in force and take part in the walk under the town's banner. The more people who walk together, the stronger the message will be about a community where everyone belongs.

  • Freedom to be.
  • Freedom to love.
  • Freedom to flourish.
  • Freedom to celebrate.

Let's walk together – and make the Pride Parade even more colourful.
