Basic concepts behind Hafnarfjörður's health strategy
One of the main objectives of Hafnarfjörður's health strategy is to nurture the general well-being of residents, both mental and physical, at all ages, and to encourage the strengthening and promotion of self-esteem and good mental health. Among other things, it is proposed to increase cooperation with voluntary organisations, professionals, enthusiasts and the health service for health promotion and well-being, and to increase the provision of information regarding services available in this area. A collaborative platform will be established with the relevant stakeholders, involving the youth council, the older people's council, the advisory council, the new arrivals' council and the neighbourhood council. Work will be undertaken on protective factors against anxiety and distress. To work with the town's staff to find the most effective ways forward for the future. It is proposed that psychological services be strengthened within the town's nursery and primary schools. Emphasis will also be placed on promoting healthy food choices in institutions and facilities within the town, providing encouragement and education on healthy nutrition, assessing acoustics and meal times in schools, and focusing on reducing waste. promote and raise awareness of the town's footpaths and open spaces as recreational areas for families, and increase access to the town's swimming pools. Once the health strategy and action plan have been approved by the town council, their implementation and monitoring will begin across all areas of the municipality. The health strategy supports the forward-looking vision of Hafnarfjörður to increase the well-being of its residents through preventative measures.
