Every heart has its own character.
This year, the hearts have once again been given a new look. There are still three of them, and each has its own character, but together they form a harmonious whole where colours, flowers and materials reflect a common summer theme. The wedding heart stands in Hellisgerði, as the garden is one of the most popular places for wedding photoshoots in Hafnarfjörður. By the Town Square, at the end of Strandgata, is the love heart, and at the beginning of Strandgata, opposite Hafnarfjörður Church, the summer heart welcomes visitors and passers-by. The decorations are the work of Bryndís Eir Þorsteinsdóttir of Blómdís Blómahönnun. „The idea is that every heart has its own story. Bryndís says the most enjoyable part is creating an experience that people become a part of.
The hearts come to life with use.
„We try to give each heart its own charm, whilst at the same time letting them talk to each other. That's why there is always a common thread in the colour scheme, flowers and materials, even though each heart has its own theme.“ She also says it's a unique feeling to see how the hearts come to life when people put them to use. „It's always a joy to see people stop, sit on the bench, take photos and create memories. The hearts aren't just decoration – they become part of people's lives, in big and small moments.“
Become a part of the town's atmosphere all year round
Over the years, the hearts have taken on a different appearance with each season. They have been decorated in the spirit of spring, summer, autumn and winter and have become a permanent part of the town's atmosphere. The Christmas hearts are illuminated and unique, and have become an integral part of the Advent season in the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður. Our hearts remind us that sometimes it is the little things that bring the most joy – a beautiful environment, the colourful splendour of the flowers, and a place where people stop, smile, and take a photo that captures a good moment and memories.
