Due to works to expand Veitur's hot water mains in Hafnarfjörður (in the area from Lækjarskóli to Lækjargata), traffic disruption can be expected near the work site. Notices regarding this will be published on the town's website and on the relevant neighbourhood Facebook pages. Diversions will be put in place where necessary, and access for cyclists and pedestrians will be guaranteed at all times.

„Veitur are continuing the expansion of the district heating main in Hafnarfjörður, from Lækjargata to Ljósatröð. This project is an important milestone in the development of the district heating system and is necessary to ensure all residents have access to hot water. The work will be carried out in phases and the construction site will move as the work progresses.“
„In this phase, a pipe that runs south of Lækjarskóli and was laid two years ago is being connected. This pipe will be extended across Lækjagata and into the end of Ljósatraðir, where the construction of a control valve house has begun. This pipework is scheduled for completion in 2026, with the building itself fully finished and commissioned with its equipment in 2027.“
„During the works, disruption to traffic can be expected in the immediate vicinity of each work area, including a section of Lækjargata which will be closed for several days during the project. Diversions will be put in place where necessary, and access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.“
„The emphasis is on the safety of road users and staff, and we want to know straight away if anything can be improved. The surface will be finished at the end of the works. When we connect a new pipe, we will need to turn off the hot water, but we will give you specific notice of this. The utility company is renewing the pipes to ensure all residents have the necessary infrastructure and a good quality of life for the future.“
