Engidalsskóli is looking to hire a part-time school and leisure assistant, for approximately 35-40 hours per week.
Engidalsskóli was founded in 1978. The school was merged with Víðistaðaskóli about a decade ago but regained its independence in the autumn of 2020, and extensive development work is currently underway. The school is small and friendly, attended by pupils in Years 1-7. This winter, there are nearly 200 pupils.

Engidalsskóli runs an after-school club for children aged 6–9 and a youth club for children aged 10–12. The aim of the leisure activities is to give children and young people the opportunity to take part in creative and developmental social activities in a healthy environment, on an equal basis.
The role involves supporting and assisting students during school hours and leading groups in the school's after-school activities.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Support for children in school activities
- Working at an after-school club for younger pupils
- Lead a group in leisure activities
- Working with a diverse student group
- Assisting in the dining hall and with meal preparation.
- Supervise and assist children in play and activities.
- Other tasks as specified in the job description for school and leisure assistants, and as assigned to the employee by their supervisor.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Experience in a similar role is an advantage.
- Interest in professional work with children
- Good knowledge of Icelandic
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Independent and organised work methods
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to work under pressure
A condition of employment is that the applicant has a clean criminal record.
