The Christmas Village opens – Christmas begins in Hafnarfjörður
The Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður gets a head start on the Christmas festivities, opening the Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður with a festive programme on Thorsplani on Friday, 15th November. The Christmas Village opens at 5 p.m. and the programme on stage begins at 6 p.m. The Christmas lights on the Cuxhaven tree will be switched on at around 6:30 p.m., illuminating the Christmas Village.

The Christmas Village opens at 5 p.m. and the programme on stage begins at 6 p.m. The Cuxhaven tree will be lit in its new location.
The German Ambassador to Iceland, Clarissa Duvigneau, Mayor of Hafnarfjörður Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, and Wilhelm Eitzen, chairman of the Cuxhaven-Hafnarfjörður twinning association, will light the Christmas tree at 18:30. The Christmas tree is, as before, a gift from Cuxhaven, Hafnarfjörður's 36-year-old twin town in Germany, and will illuminate the Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður in December.

Hafnarfjörður, the Christmas town, is a warm and unique town, not least for its lively and entertaining town centre, charming harbour area, and good access to a variety of beautiful natural gems all year round, both in the heart of Hafnarfjörður and in the surrounding countryside.
In the Christmas town, families and groups of friends can experience a warm and relaxed Christmas atmosphere and plan their own Christmas route around the town. On one or more visits, you can experience, have fun, enjoy the outdoors, shop and enjoy services and food. You can get a whole lot of refreshing sea air for the whole family.
The City of Hafnarfjörður welcomes the Christmas season and Advent with its annual Christmas village, a world of lights and a fairy-tale world in Hellisgerði, Hjartasvelli and much more. The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður will be open every weekend during Advent; Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. until Christmas.
In the Christmas Village, there is a hive of life and activity, and the beautifully decorated Christmas houses of Hafnarfjörður have long since become nationally renowned for a variety of exciting gifts, gourmet treats, handicrafts and design.
