Leisure grant for the over-67s

Yes, exercise strengthens the champion!

The rules for leisure grants for those aged 67 and over have now been updated. A payment of 4,000 krónur is made for each participant per month, or up to a total of 48,000 krónur per year, for those who meet certain income criteria.

The aim of the payments is to encourage older residents of Hafnarfjörður to participate in health-promoting sports and leisure activities, and to enhance the general health and fitness of this age group.

• Individuals with a taxable income of 442,912 kr. per month, according to the 2022 tax return, can apply for the leisure allowance. The income threshold for couples is 575,786 krónur per month for the leisure allowance. The income thresholds are subject to annual change in line with changes in the Consumer Price Index for price adjustments.

According to the new rules, an applicant for a leisure grant must Submit an application for the grant, last year's tax return and a receipt for the subscription.

• The annual fee is payable in one instalment upon presentation of a payment receipt and must be received by the end of the year for which the fee applies.
• You must apply for the leisure grant on my pages on the Hafnarfjörður City website. The application must be accompanied by: last year's tax return, and an original receipt for the participation fee for the relevant individual, no later than two months after the course/training has ended.
• The reimbursement is paid into the practitioner's account within two months of approval.
