A generous gift – Disc golf baskets for the school and sports hall
Yesterday, the Hafnarfjörður Disc Golf Club, in partnership with Folfdiskar.is, presented the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður with 13 disc golf baskets and hundreds of discs for playing indoor disc golf in the municipality's primary schools and sports facilities.

The Hafnarfjörður Disc Golf Club, in partnership with Folfdiskar.is, presented the town of Hafnarfjörður with a generous gift yesterday: thirteen disc golf baskets and hundreds of discs for indoor disc golf in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools and sports facilities.
Two hoops and 30 balls go to Víðistaðaskóli, Setbergsskóli, Ásvellir, the sports hall at Strandgata and Kaplakriki. One hoop and 20 balls go to Skarðshlíðarskóli, Lækjarskóli and Engidalsskóli.
Want to boost interest
Siggi Gunn, chairman of FFH, says the gift is part of an effort to boost interest in disc golf in Hafnarfjörður. The sixty members have raised the money for the gift through tournaments and membership fees. It is worth just over one million kronur. He envisages teaching the primary school PE teachers so that the gift can be used to its best advantage.
„All baskets and all boxes with discs are labelled, so there should be no confusion about what goes where,“ he said on the occasion.

Valdimar Víðisson, the mayor, said the gift was generous and thanked them warmly on behalf of the town's residents. It was important that families in Hafnarfjörður could play disc golf.

It works closely with the Icelandic Frisbee Golf Federation and other frisbee golf clubs in the country.
Build in Hafnarfjörður
The aim of the club is to develop the sport in Hafnarfjörður through tournaments, promotions and courses, and to maintain disc golf courses. Currently, there is one course in Hafnarfjörður; at Víðisstaðatún, which was established in 2014. The club's dream is for there to be more.
