2302625 – Night bus
For discussion.
For discussion.
The majority of the town council submits the following motion:
The majority of the town council knows that a night bus service is a good service, but it was discontinued by the Strætó board last year due to severe operational difficulties for the Strætó municipal consortium, as part of cost-cutting measures. The service was introduced at the time, in part, at the instigation of the current majority party in the Hafnarfjörður town council. There are strong intentions to look into the matter further with neighbouring municipalities and to obtain information on the experience with the night bus service in Reykjavík since the city reintroduced it. But when Strætó's operations have been as heavy as they have been, the allocation of funds and when it is justifiable to add to the service must be carefully considered. The representative of Viðreisn submits the following statement:
A representative of Viðreisn believes that work should begin immediately to introduce a night bus service here. This is a major issue of concern for young people. The cost is estimated at 12 to 15 million per year. By including Kópavogur and Garðabær in the project, this amount is significantly reduced. The fact that 15 million is invested annually in the Capital Region Airport Authority without any requirement for a specific return shows that the funds are available. The Viðreisn representative urges the majority to introduce this important service.Representatives of the Social Democratic Alliance submit the following motion:
The matter has been raised at the initiative of the Social Democratic Party's representative. The majority party does not appear to have any willingness to take decisive action and introduce a night bus service, which would likely cost the municipality just over five million kroner net. No analysis has been carried out by the majority party between meetings. There is no interest whatsoever.
It is disappointing. This is a service that increases safety and service, not least for the young people in the town. -
2208659 – Budget of the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður and its enterprises 2023 and 2024-2026
For discussion.
For discussion.
Representatives of the Social Democratic Alliance submit the following motion:
Representatives of the Social Democratic Alliance put the matter on the agenda and ask about the majority's countermeasures regarding a budget shortfall of almost 180 million, which resulted from a smaller increase in property taxes due to an accounting error by the council. It is clarified that no work has yet begun by the majority to implement countermeasures, i.e., how to respond to this „hole“ in the city's 2023 budget. The majority of the town council submits the following motion.
The matter is being worked on by the finance department and the implementation will be presented in the next budget supplement, as has been reported at this meeting. The Social Democratic Party's claims speak for themselves. -
2303286 – Appointment of senior executives pursuant to Article 56 of the Municipal Government Act No. 138 of 2011 and Article 80 of the Statute of the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður No. 240 of 2021
