Question regarding the dismissals of employees of the City of Hafnarfjörður
At the town council meeting on 9 February, the recent dismissals of a group of the council's employees were addressed, and it was announced that further information would be requested about them, as is being done here. The city's difficult financial situation is no longer in dispute, and the aforementioned measures are part of the response to it.  However, councillors have generally been poorly informed about these measures, and it is therefore requested that the mayor provide councillors with information on the following: A comprehensive list of the posts for which redundancies were made is requested, along with information on how these will be addressed going forward and how services will change, where applicable.Information is requested on the criteria that were used in making the redundancy decisions.
    • How do the employees who lost their jobs break down by gender, age and length of service?
    • Were the options of negotiating early retirement with employees nearing retirement age, as an alternative to making other staff redundant, previously considered or offered?
    • How were consultation and preparation handled before the redundancies, with regard to the employees concerned?Has the City of Hafnarfjörður provided support to the employees who lost their jobs to help them cope with the changes and to assist with their job search, and if so, in what way? What is the estimated total cost saving from these measures, for this year and the next? Can further redundancies of permanent staff be expected this year, due to cost-cutting? MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt“>Kristinn Andersen (sign)
