It is important to ensure equality in this matter between staff who have made great efforts in cost-saving measures due to the council's difficult financial situation.“$line$$line$Bay Council representatives of the Social Democratic Party and the Left-Green Party record:$line$“The majority considers it appropriate that the mayor be tasked with responding to the matter on its merits. The Independence Party has in its statements demanded that severe cuts be made in the municipality, and this recorded statement is therefore in complete contradiction to their general position.“$line$$line$Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir records:$line$“Written information is requested on where the Independence Party has been assertive in its calls for cuts. Furthermore, it should be noted that rationalisation and cuts do not necessarily have to be directed solely at staff terms and conditions; the Independence Party have in particular put forward proposals for, for example, better use of the town's property, which has not been well received to date.“
