• 0909121 – Meeting with the tourism industry in Hafnarfjörður, September 2009

  The minutes of the meeting of the Office of Culture and Tourism with the travel industry in Hafnarfjörður, held on 10 September, were presented. The meeting directs the Culture and Tourism Committee to explore the possibility of joining the South-West Tourist Board (which would then be called the Reykjanes Tourist Board), while also reiterating that it will continue to work with and within the Greater Reykjavík Area Tourist Board. The minutes also point to the necessity of considering the Krýsuvík area and providing permanent toilet facilities at Seltún.

  The minutes were discussed and the cultural and tourism representative was tasked with gathering information about the South Coast Tourist Board and other matters raised in the minutes.;

• 0908117 – Hafnarfjörður Theatre.

  A letter from Hilmar Jónsson was presented, providing explanations for the theatre's quarterly accounts.

  The Culture and Tourism Committee emphasises the importance for all parties to the agreement that the matter of the theatre is clarified and a decision on its future is reached as soon as possible. In the committee's view, the participation of the Ministry of Education in the project is, however, a prerequisite for the continued operation of a professional theatre in the town.  It is therefore of the utmost importance to reach a decision as soon as possible regarding further funding from the ministry and continued collaboration on the project with the local authorities.;

• 0908194 – Hellisgerði, coffee shop operation

  The matter was taken up again from the last meeting. A draft of the announcement was presented.

  Decided to request an opinion from the Executive Board before proceeding further.;

• 0907142 – Line dancing festival in Hafnarfjörður, 30 July - 1 August

  A email was presented from the manager of the Sports Hall on Strandgata, detailing the cost of hiring the hall.

  The cultural and tourism representative has been tasked with continuing to work on the matter.;
