    • 0911571 – The leisure vehicle

      Regarding this item, Gudmundur Ragnar Ólafsson, Purchasing Manager, and Pálmar Sigurðsson from Coach Hire attended and presented the project.

      The Education Committee thanks the representative for the presentation. A parent representative of primary school children submitted a letter, which encourages cooperation between schools and leisure activities.;

    • 0702368 – Hamranes/Vellir Primary, Play and Music School

      The jury's decision on the proposals for the competition for the nursery, primary and music schools in Hamranes was presented.

      The Education Committee considers it important that the proposal selected is implemented in consultation with stakeholders, as stated in the jury's findings. “The proposal selected for implementation shall be revised in accordance with the client's wishes.“;

    • 0911587 – Friendship Week "Against Bullying"

      A letter was submitted from the school counsellors in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools, in which they propose that an „anti-bullying“ friendship week be held simultaneously in all the town's schools next autumn, and that it be included in the school calendar for the 2010-2011 academic year.

      The Education Committee welcomes the proposal and refers it to a joint meeting of headteachers for further consideration and development.;

      The Education Council instructs the education department to prepare the department's report for the next meeting of the Council.;

    • 0911573 – Icelandic Language Policy

      A letter dated 13 November 2009, from the Minister of Education and Culture, was presented, introducing the first official language policy, which was approved on 12 March 2009 by the Althingi.

      The Education Council welcomes the outcome of the language policy.;

    • 0901064 – Laws and regulations, education department

      Regulations from the Ministry of Education and Culture, no. 897 on the transmission and handling of information about pupils in primary schools and the right of parents to access information about their children, No. 896 on the exchange and transmission of information between nursery and primary schools and No. 893 on assessment and supervision in nursery schools and the information obligations of local authorities regarding the provision of schools.

      Primary school observers left the meeting at 9:45.;

    • 0911583 – Summer closures of nurseries 2010

      A proposal from the education department regarding the summer closure of the town's nursery schools in the summer of 2010 was presented. It is proposed that the schools be closed for four weeks between 7 July and 4 August, inclusive. It is also proposed that children born in 2004 who will begin primary school in the autumn be offered summer school from 5 August until term begins in the primary schools.

      The Education Committee approves the proposal from the education department regarding the summer closures of the nurseries.;

    • 0909013 – Nursery schools, school curricula

      Alda Agnes Sveinsdóttir, Headteacher at Stekkjarási, and Jóna G. Ólafsdóttir, Headteacher at Vesturkot, present the schools' curricula.

      The Education Committee thanks the presenters. The nursery school observers left the meeting at 10:30.;
