    • 1104074 – Nurseries, contract for management

      The Director of the Education Department presented the status of negotiations with independent nurseries.

    • 0907038 – Fee schedules in the education sector

      Discussion of fee changes in the education department, as planned in the 2011 budget.

    • 1106012 – Model timetable for primary schools

      The primary school development officer presents the draft model timetables for primary schools in Hafnarfjörður for the next school year.

      Further discussion and decision at the next meeting. A representative of the primary school headteacher attended the meeting.

    • 1106046 – Áslandsskóli sports hall, a challenge

      A petition from the Ásland School Parents' Association regarding the construction of a sports hall at the school, along with signatures.

    • 11023021 – Youth centres and all-day school

      A summary was presented from the open meeting on all-day schooling, which was held at Lækjarskóli on 8 June.

      The Early Years Development Officer and the primary school headteacher's representative left the meeting. Maria, the primary school headteacher's representative, thanked everyone for their cooperation, as this was her last meeting before the new headteacher's representative arrives as an observer.

      The Education Committee emphasises that the decision on the arrangement of the all-day school should be based on professional grounds and taken in the closest possible cooperation with the staff. The Education Committee also emphasises that a decision be made as soon as possible to end the current uncertainty regarding the arrangements for both the all-day school and the youth centres.Representatives of the Independence Party concur with the substance of the minutes, but point out that no decision has yet been taken in the matter and therefore no position on its outcome is available.

    • 1106160 – Adapted retirement

      A letter from Jónína Ágústsdóttir regarding the adapted retirement of a primary school teacher was presented.

    • 0908146 – Lækjarskóli, multidisciplinary programme

      With reference to the agreement on the operation of the multidisciplinary programme, it has been decided to establish a working group to develop it as a pathway to the upper secondary school leaving examination within the framework of the Upper Secondary School Curriculum. The working group will include representatives from the City of Hafnarfjörður (appointed by the Education Council), the Lækjarskóli School, the current multidisciplinary track, Flensborgar-skólinn, and the Iðnskólinn in Hafnarfjörður.

      It was agreed that Magnús Baldursson, Director of Education, would sit on the working group.
