    • 1110308 – Study trips - nurseries

      A report was presented on the study trip of the Hlíðarberg nursery school to Uppsala in Sweden. The trip took place in February 2011.

    • 1104364 – Nursery school calendars 2011-2012

      The nursery schools' school calendars were presented. The school calendars have been approved by all the nursery schools' parents' councils.

      The Education Committee approves the nursery school calendars, as the consent of all parent councils is available.

    • Confirmation of nursery school curricula and work plans

      The school curricula and work plans for the nurseries for 2010-2011 were presented.

      The Early Years Development Officer presented a summary for this item.

      The school curricula and work plans for the 2010-2011 academic year for the primary schools were presented.

    • 1110296 – Nordic Climate Day 2011

      A declaration was presented on the Nordic Climate Day, organised by the Nordic Ministers of Education on 11.11.11.

    • 0811084 – Bullying, national campaign

      An email from the project manager on anti-bullying measures was presented. It states that it has been decided that 8 November will be Anti-Bullying Day. On the occasion of the day, a National Charter on Positive Relations will be signed. The project is run by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Ministry of Welfare.

      The Education Committee encourages nurseries and primary schools to review their anti-bullying checklists and procedures.

    • 1110227 – SSH Future Group on Education and Expertise

      The SSH project group's report on education and specialist expertise was presented. The town council referred the report to the education committee for consideration.

      The Director of the Department sat on the project group and presented the group's recommendations. The matter was referred to the group of nursery and primary school heads for discussion and will be back on the agenda of the Education Council at its next meeting.

    • 1110211 – Cover teaching

      A complaint was submitted by a parent regarding cover teaching in the secondary department of Víðistaðaskóli.

      The Director is tasked with requesting information from the headteachers of the primary schools regarding cover teaching.

    • 1008212 – Prevention in the field of education

      Decision on whether to purchase the report's breakdown

      The Education Council agrees to purchase the breakdown of the report. The amount will be taken from the „grants“ line.

    • 1110297 – Municipal Education Conference 2011

      The Municipalities' Education Conference will be held on Friday, 4th November at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica hotel, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    • 0908146 – Interdisciplinary Programme

      A development grant agreement was submitted between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the City of Hafnarfjörður concerning the development of study programmes leading to the upper secondary school leaving examination within the framework of a multidisciplinary track in Hafnarfjörður. The agreement is based on a provision for the operation of the multidisciplinary track between the same parties.

      The observer for primary school teachers left the meeting at 10:10.

    • 2011 budget for the municipal fund, revision

      The Operations Manager for the Education Department presented the revised budget for educational services.
