The Education Committee approves the submitted terms of reference for the work of the steering group on the review of Hafnarfjörður's school policy. Eyjólfur Sæmundsson, representative of the Social Democratic Party, Gestur Svavarsson, representative of the Left-Green Party, and Helga Ingólfsdóttir, representative of the Independence Party, were appointed to the steering group.

Viðivellir was nominated for the Public Sector Innovation Award for its forestry department at Kaldársel. The project was one of 18 nominations selected from 62 submissions to be presented at the 2012 Innovation Awards. The Head Teacher of Víðivellir attended the meeting and gave the presentation to the Education Committee.
Árdís Grétarsdóttir, Headteacher at Víðivellir, presented the project. The Education Committee congratulates the management and staff at Víðivellir on the project and thanks them for their excellent work.
