    • 1108227 – Environmental issues, brainstorming session

      Presentation of the meeting's outcome.

      The council thanks you for the presentation. Emphasis is placed on good and active cooperation between the departments on environmental matters in general, which is accompanied by an increased focus on the subject area through a new arrangement, including the councils holding joint meetings at least twice a year.

    • 1109378 – Environmental Team, Terms of Reference

      Draft terms of reference for the Environment Team were presented.

The Planning and Building Committee and the Environment and Operations Committee welcome the success of the lava field clean-up on 16 September and extend their sincere thanks to all who took part for their contribution. Special thanks are extended to the Friends of the Lava Field for their initiative in this clean-up campaign. It is proposed that 16 September be made an annual clean-up day, and the councils' environmental team is tasked with taking this matter forward.

    • 0701248 – Hamranes, landscaping area

      A memorandum was presented regarding the status of the landformation area in Hamranes.

      The Environment and Operations Committee instructs the Director to enter into discussions with the Director of the Planning and Building Department regarding short-term and long-term fees for the reception of materials on land in the municipality of Hafnarfjörður. A proposal is to be presented within two weeks.

    • 1006286 – Environmental and resource policy.

      The Environment and Operations Committee agrees that a 5-member working group will be appointed to formulate a policy on environmental and resource matters for the Borough of Hafnarfjörður. $line$$line$The department's environmental team and other staff, as required, shall work with the working group. The group shall submit a timed plan for the project no later than 5 November 2011. The following will form the basis for the work on the plan: a) Professional definitions of the terms natural resource and utilisation. b) All available data on environmental matters from the City of Hafnarfjörður. $line$c) A review of the former environmental committee's policy, Agenda 21, on environmentally friendly procurement and all other environmental projects in which the municipality has committed to participate.$line$d) A summary of the environmental projects the municipality has already implemented, e.g. the sewer system, green cleaning in Hafnarfjörður's institutions, etc.$line$e) A summary of all available data on the defined natural resources within the Hafnarfjörður area, at the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Ministry of the Environment.$line$$line$Stages in the work will be presented to the council.$line$$line$The working group will consist of: Margrét Gauja Magnúsdóttir, Chair, Eyjólfur Sæmundsson, Gestur Svavarsson, Helga Ingólfsson and Valdimar Svavarsson.

      Review the memorandum on safety issues at institutional grounds and open spaces. Also review the checklist for nursery and primary school grounds.

      The Environment and Operations Committee instructs the department to continue working on the matter between meetings.

    • 1107023 – Environmental Assembly VII, 14 October 2011

      Environment Assembly 2011 will be held in Selfoss on 14 October.

    • 0906229 – Hellisgata 16, sale

      An offer has been made for 16 Hellisgata.

      The Environment and Operations Committee recommends to the Town Council that the offer be accepted.
