Entertainment for children and young people in restaurants
A motion from the Social Welfare Board of the City of Reykjavík concerning the matter was presented for information.
“The Family Board endorses the resolution of the Social Welfare Board of the City of Reykjavík of 3 February. The board's resolution states, inter alia, a clear opposition to teenage parties being held in pubs. In recent weeks and months, there have been instances of youth parties, with an age limit of 14, being held in bars and advertised via social media platforms such as Facebook, thus bypassing the parents and guardians of primary school children. There is plenty of other suitable premises for such events, and a general willingness among those who organise youth work for teenagers to find more appropriate venues and better arrangements for such occasions. The Family Council urges those planning to offer entertainment for this age group to ensure they consult with parents“ organisations, school authorities, and those working in youth and preventative services.„
