  The Committee on Democracy and Equality appoints Klara Hallgrímsdóttir from the Left-Greens and Þórarinn B. Þórarinsson from the Social Democratic Alliance to a working group tasked with examining the declining participation of girls in sports and leisure activities.

• 0711064 – Citizens' Assembly 2008.

  The representative for democracy and equality stated that it has been decided to postpone the citizens' assembly on city centre issues indefinitely due to the economic situation.

• 0701391 – A school project, a collaborative project of the Municipality of Hfj., the Municipality of Kópavogur, the Municipality of Akureyri, the Equality Institute, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the City of Reykjavík.

  Lýðræðis- og jafnréttisfulltrúi gerði grein fyrir formlegri opnun nýrrar heimasíðu þróunarverkefnisins Jafnrétti í skólum. Heimasíðan er aðgengilegur gagnabanki fyrir kennara, nemendur, námsráðgjafa, foreldra og alla þá sem vilja fræðast og fræða um jafnrétti í námi og starfi. Í nýjum lögum um jafna stöðu og jafnan rétt kvenna og karla er kveðið á um að á öllum skólastigum skuli nemendur hljóta fræðslu um jafnréttismál þar sem meðal annars skal lögð áhersla á að búa bæði kynin undir jafna þátttöku í samfélaginu, svo sem í fjölskyldu- og atvinnulífi. Nýja heimasíðan styður þetta ákvæði laganna. Á heimasíðunni er m.a. hægt að fræðast um þróunarverkefnið og helstu markmiðin að baki því.%0D
