  A request from the Quarter Mile Club, dated 26 August, has been submitted, requesting discussions on an increase in the operating grant.

  The Sports and Leisure Committee instructs the Sports Officer and Deputy Chair of the S&L Committee to begin discussions with the letter writer.

  A request from the Association of Icelandic Strongmen, dated 30th August, has been submitted, requesting a grant for the 'Strongest Man in Iceland' competition.

  The Sports and Leisure Committee is unable to grant the request.

• 0909073 – Maintenance works on sports facilities, summer 2009

  The sports representative reported on the maintenance work that has been carried out on sports facilities this summer.

• 0909077 – Haukar and the Quarter Mile Club, contracts for accelerated works, presentation

  Draft agreement presented for the fast-track implementation of Hauka and the Quarter Mile Club.

  The Sports and Leisure Committee instructs the sports representative to pursue the matter further.

  The Head of Youth and Leisure Services described the beginning of the work of youth centres.

  The Head of Youth and Leisure Services explained how a play course in August for nursery school leavers, a joint project between ÍTH and the Education Council, was a success, and that the project has been very well received.

  A draft programme of the courses to be offered at the after-school clubs for the autumn term 2009 was presented.

  The Head of Youth and Leisure Services reviewed the work of the summer, noting that around 1,500 people worked for the Summer Job Scheme this year, and the work has never been more varied.

  The Head of Youth and Leisure Services reviewed ideas for organisational changes in the youth centres and went over how the trial in Ásnum and Mosanum has been progressing, which has gone very well.

  The minutes of the Sports Association of Hafnarfjörður from 7th September were presented.

  The Chairman of the IBA drew attention to item 7 of the minutes, which states that no further information is available but that subsidies were unchanged. However, it is now unclear whether this is the case.
