Helga is the founder of Tónagull and the mastermind behind it. She has been training teachers since 2004. Tónagull runs Icelandic, Polish and Ukrainian workshops, and now also international ones in Hafnarfjörður. „Yes, we work across languages,“ says Helga.

„Generally, in Tónagulli we use Icelandic folk heritage; verses, chants and folk songs. Then we do the same for the Polish and Ukrainian groups, but now we are experimenting with an international group. We want to bring people together through music and rhythm,“ she says.

„You don't need to teach young children to understand music. It's instinctive to them. Music connects people: parents and children, grandparents, and groups.“

The aim is to increase joy.

In the workshop, children and adults have fun singing songs and rhymes, moving and playing with colourful scarves, as well as playing various small instruments specially chosen for this age group. The aim of the workshop is to promote joy and well-being through music and movement, for both children and parents.

Children love music and there are more opportunities for them to enjoy it. Tónagull is also in partnership with Hafnarborg. On Sundays, a similar singing session is available there at 2 pm. If you would like to take part, please register. here.

All you need to do is turn up at Selhellu on Friday. Everyone welcome.
