New main road at Sólvang – disruption due to construction
The utilities are laying a new district heating main to ensure all residents in Hafnarfjörður have hot water. The pipeline is being laid in Álfaskeið and Sólvangsveg and will run underground right next to the health centre. Veitur has received an exemption from the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate to carry out blasting on Saturdays at the health centre on Sólvangsveg in June and July.
The utilities are laying a new district heating main to ensure all residents in Hafnarfjörður have hot water.
The pipeline is being laid in Álfaskeið and Sólvangsveg, and passes underground right next to the health centre. There is bedrock underneath which needs to be blasted (broken), causing associated disruption. This cannot be done during the health centre's opening hours due to the sensitivity of its operations. Veitur has received an exemption from the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate to carry out blasting on Saturdays at the health centre on Sólvangsveg in June and July. This involves three Saturdays, the first of which is Saturday, 24 June 2023. Such works are not permitted at weekends without a special exemption.
Notice on the Veitur website about the works as a whole
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
