New nursery in Völlunum
The Planning and Building Council has approved the construction of a new four-class nursery school at Bjarkavellir. Work on the school will begin later this year, and it is planned to be ready for use in 2016.
The Planning and Building Council has approved the construction of a new four-form-entry nursery school at Bjarkavellir.
The nursery school will be built according to drawings by Sigurlaug Sigurjónsdóttir. Construction on the school will begin later this year, and it is planned to be operational in 2016.
Nearly 5,000 people now live in Völlunum, and the nursery meets a pressing need for nursery places in the neighbourhood.
There are 17 nurseries in Hafnarfjörður, three of which are privately run schools with a service contract with the municipality of Hafnarfjörður. Each nursery has its own speciality, with a focus on certain policies or aspects of its work, and information about these can be found here on the municipality's website.
