Finnbogi Örn, a news enthusiast, and Melkorka Assa, a student at the University of Iceland, are running the Instagram page 'News with Finnbogi' this summer. A page that brings lively and entertaining news straight from the heart of Hafnarfjörður. Finnbogi and Melkorka, who first met at Flensborg School in Hafnarfjörður, started this fantastic project through the creative summer jobs scheme run by the City of Hafnarfjörður at the beginning of the summer, and it has already led them on various adventures. This summer, nine creative summer jobs groups are active on behalf of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

Week two of News with Finnbogi has begun.

After much preparation, it began

Finnboga's news is already starting to attract a great deal of well-deserved attention, and the medium's popularity is growing by the day, much to the delight of the two news hawks. The number of followers on
Instagram is constantly on the rise and the team is truly grateful for the interest and support, and not least for the fantastic opportunities and experiences the project is bringing them. After an eventful first week, the anticipation for the summer of 2021 is high and the future is truly bright for these young news reporters. The theme of the week is the diversity of Hafnarfjörður's food and restaurants.

Creative summer jobs are part of the Hafnarfjörður Summer Job Scheme – nine projects for summer 2021. 

Creative summer jobs with the City of Hafnarfjörður are part of the summer programme. Hafnarfjörður Summer School. Creative summer jobs are advertised separately, and individuals and groups are invited to submit ideas for creative projects with their application. These projects are designed to bring even more life to the town over the summer, making it more fun, beautiful and diverse through artistic and creative events. Particular attention is paid to the diversity of projects and ensuring they appeal to different age groups and interests. The selected groups will then have the opportunity to liven up the social life and entertainment in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, delighting tourists and residents with all sorts of initiatives.  The 'News with Finnbogi' project is one of these. Eight other creative projects are being run by the Hafnarfjörður Work School this year, and these will also be featured on the council's media channels.
