Open house: 2 September for Hrauns Vestur
An open house will be held on Tuesday, 2nd September from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Norðurhellu 2, 221 Hafnarfjörður. There, you will be able to view the proposal for an amendment to the 2013–2025 Master Plan for Hafnarfjörður regarding the change of land use for Hraun Vestur, along with the environmental report.
We would like to remind you of the open house on Tuesday, 2nd September, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Norðurhæla 2, 221 Hafnarfjörður. There you will be able to view the proposal for an amendment to the 2013–2025 Master Plan for Hafnarfjörður regarding the change of land use for Hraun vestur, along with the environmental report.
Hafnarfjörður Town Council, at its meeting on 12 July 2025, resolved to advertise the proposal and environmental assessment report for amendments to the Hrauns Vestar master plan, in accordance with Section 31 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010.
The proposal provides for a change of land use in the master plan for the Hraun Vestur planning area from an industrial, retail and service, and community service area to a central area. The intention is to change the use of the entire area from a commercial zone to a mixed-use area, i.e. one that offers residential accommodation, employment and services, thereby opening up the possibility for greater diversity in the area.
