Master Plan, Detailed Plan and Assessment Description
Notice of planning and environmental assessment statement regarding the amendment to the planning scheme for Hafnarfjörður:
Amendment to the Master Plan of Hafnarfjörður 2013–2025, amendment to the detailed plan of the aluminium smelter in Straumsvík and Zoning plan for the industrial area in Kapelluhraun and Straumsvík.
At a meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Town Council on 17 August, it was approved to amend the 2013–2025 Master Plan for Hafnarfjörður, and to amend the detailed plans for the aluminium smelter in Straumsvík and for the industrial area in Kapelluhraun and Straumsvík.
The purpose of preparing a planning and assessment statement is to ensure the involvement of the public and stakeholders in the planning process at its earliest stages, to increase transparency, and to ensure better information flow, result in better and more targeted planning work and provide the local council and those involved in the process with a better overview from the very first steps. This planning and assessment statement gives residents and other stakeholders the opportunity to provide suggestions and comments on matters relating to the local plan and the forthcoming planning work.
When work on the preparation of a draft local plan begins, the local council shall prepare a statement of the planning proposal. This statement shall set out the council's objectives for the plan, details of the assumptions and existing policies, and the proposed planning process. such as on the presentation and consultation on the plan's preparation with the municipality's residents and other stakeholders. The description will be available for inspection at the Hafnarfjörður Service Centre, Strandgata 6, and at the Department of Environment and Planning, Norðurhellu 2, from 16.09. to 11.10.2022.
