Fun and outdoor activities for young people aged 16-25

Úti-Hamarinn is a project that encourages all 16-25 year-olds who are interested in getting to know the great outdoors, new people, and the natural gems around the capital area to take part.

The project is run by the youth centre, Hamarinn, and participants themselves help to shape the programme with ideas for outdoor activities, exercise and new places. An information meeting will be held at Hamarinn today, Tuesday 9th April at 8 p.m.

Outdoor activities and nature nearby

The main aim of Úti-Hamrinn is to introduce young people to the great outdoors and the local nature. There is no cost to take part, apart from clothing and a packed lunch, which are the participants' own responsibility. The project then concludes in June with a 2-3 night camping trip.

The supervisors are Margrét Gauja Magnúsdóttir, Head of Youth Centres, and Stella Björg Kristinsdóttir, Head of Leisure Activities and Prevention Officer. The project has received generous grants this year. A total of 1.4 million krónur from the Immigration Fund, 500,000 krónur from the Public Health Fund and 600,000 krónur from the Oddfellow Lodge Gissur Hvíti. This year's funding not only ensures that Úti-Hamarinn will take place this year, but also next year.
