Flexible working hours

There are many interesting jobs available within the Hafnarfjörður municipality's primary schools and, by extension, its leisure centres – full-time (school assistant and leisure), part-time and hourly-paid. The work within the leisure centres is divided into after-school clubs and youth clubs. Those who are interested and energetic can work in both.

The opening hours of the after-school clubs are flexible.

The after-school clubs are open from 13:10 to 16:30 every weekday. Some staff work every day, while others work 3-4 days a week. This flexibility has proven particularly beneficial for students, including those in secondary school and university, as well as for creative individuals who prefer to work on their own projects for part of the day. Those seeking a higher percentage of employment can consider roles within the primary school alongside a position at the after-school club.

Youth centres are open in the afternoon and in the evenings.

We are open three afternoons a week from 17:00-19:00 for pupils in Years 5-7, and three evenings a week from 19:30-22:00 for pupils in Years 8-10. These opening hours have also proved very successful for students in sixth form and university. Those seeking a higher workload can look at jobs within the primary school alongside a position in the youth club.
