Pop-up at Thorsplan

To mark Pride Month, the health and wellness town of Hafnarfjörður has invested in leaflets with informative details about the Pride flag. Sigmar Ingi Sigurgeirsson of HHH and Dagný Kára Magnúsdóttir of the Hafnarfjörður Workers' School were responsible for distributing the leaflets yesterday.

The Healthy Town and HHH encourages organisations to fly the flag, show their support and make our town colourful during these fantastic days!

On the occasion of the Gay Pride Parade, there will be pop-up in collaboration with The Queer Cooperative at Thorsplan, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 16:00 – 18:00 (15:00-17:00, 9th August). There you will be able to, among other things:

Freedom to love. Freedom to be. Freedom to celebrate.

Queer Gatherings in Hafnarfjörður (HHH) are based at Hvaleyrarskóli, but were originally at Víðistaðaskóli (in Hraun). The meet-up is intended for young people in years 5-10 who identify as queer, are on the autism spectrum, are interested in queer topics, and/or are interested in queer issues. The model is the Queer Youth Centre in Reykjavík, where meet-ups and group activities have been more successful than expected.

„HHH has a highly experienced team. When young people bring ideas to us, we do our very best to put them into practice in collaboration with them. The aim of the work is for them to feel safe, welcome and to have the opportunity to flourish. The work is largely based on peer education, and the young people are tasked, among other things, with raising awareness of LGBTQ+ youth issues and celebrating diversity here in Hafnarfjörður. We encourage all Hafnarfjörður residents who are interested in HHH to find out more about the work, to encourage those who want to promote it, and to attend our meetings. We welcome everyone,“ says Sigmar Ingi Sigurgeirsson.
