A leaflet with all the main summer events here in Hafnarfjörður has now been delivered to every home in the town. Those who have not received a copy can collect one from the swimming pools, museums and our customer service from the day after the weekend.

Yes, there are eventful weeks ahead. Events include: Seafarers' Day at Flensburg Harbour on 7th June, the Hafnarfjörður Run on 11th June, and the popular Viking Festival in Víðistaðatún from 16th–21st June. Then, the National Day will be celebrated with a varied programme of events throughout the town on 17th June.

The Lotta Theatre Company presents the musical Colourland in Hellisgerði on 21 June and Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar will be held for the tenth time from 25 June to 1 August with a varied programme in the town centre. Later this summer, events such as will follow. Total eclipse of the sun, Álfahátíð in Hellisgerði, Vegan Festival and the cultural festival Home and the universe.

In addition to the larger events, cultural and health walks will be on offer every Wednesday this summer. The walks are varied and take participants through the history, culture and nature of Hafnarfjörður, from the harbour area and Ástjörn to Hvaleyrarvatn and Sléttuhlíð.

  • 12 August – Total eclipse of the sun / Looked home in Hafnarfjörður
  • 16 August – Elf Festival in Hellisgerði
  • 30 August – Vegan Festival at Thorsplan
  • 4–6 September – Worlds and Heavens, costume and play festival
