Older people
The aim is for older people in Hafnarfjörður to be able to live independently for as long as possible. Social activities, exercise and a variety of support are on offer. Servant leadership is kept in mind.
Day care
Day care supports older people to live in their own homes for as long as possible and to break down social isolation.
Day care at Hrafnista and Sólvangur
Both nursing homes in Hafnarfjörður offer day care.
- Opening hours are from 9 am to 4 pm every weekday.
- The stay can be from 1–5 days a week.
- Transport is available to and from home.
- Breakfast, a hot lunch and afternoon coffee are served.
- A varied programme of health promotion and leisure activities; social activities, crafts, light exercise and a rest area.
- Day guests pay a set daily fee.
Day stay at Hrafnista
Á Hrafnista There are 26 places in the day centre. The day centre is for people aged 67 and over.

Day stay at Sólvangur
Á Solvangi There are 14 places in general day care and 12 in specialised day care for individuals with dementia. The day care is intended for residents of Hafnarfjörður aged 67 and over.

Day care at Drafnarhús for people with dementia
Í The Draug House There are 22 places for day care. The training aims to maintain people's independence for as long as possible by strengthening their physical and cognitive abilities, so they can live at home for as long as they can. Opening hours are from 8 am to 4:30 pm, every weekday.
Included in the training:
- Monitor daily health
- Increased self-confidence, reduced distress and feelings of helplessness
- Light relief for the relatives
- Gatherings
- Reading and singing
- Gymnastics, hiking and the great outdoors
- Activities, such as helping in the kitchen, crafts and candle-making
- A visit from a priest and a children's choir
- The band comes once a month and plays for a dance.
