The state of waste collection in Hafnarfjörður

It is expected that the rubbish collection will be back on track on Monday.

Progress is being made in catching up on the delays to rubbish collection over the past few days and weeks, although a backlog still remains. The service provider has been working systematically to clear the backlog with collections outside of normal service hours and will continue to do so over the weekend. According to the work plan, the waste collection service should be back on track by next Monday, provided that key underlying factors such as weather, road conditions, equipment and staffing are favourable.

These days, the disposal of mixed waste and food waste is taking place in accordance with the following:

• Friday – Ásland and Norðurbær
• Saturday – Álfaskeið, Norðurbakki and Norðurbær

The planned delay on Monday morning includes the collection of mixed waste and food waste in Álfaskeiði, and the collection of paper and plastic on Hringbraut and in the city centre, west town and Hvammar. Otherwise, rubbish collection in Hafnarfjörður is to be in accordance with the rubbish collection calendar.
