A fishing competition with a history of over 20 years
For over 20 years, the City of Hafnarfjörður has organised this fishing competition, and last year more than 300 children took part. Various sea creatures were caught by the participants, such as cod, haddock, whiting, rockling and crabs. Competitors will receive fishing tackle at the venue, where bait and guidance will also be available from staff. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, the most fish caught, and the so-called "odd fish." The fishing course that catches the most fish will also be awarded a prize. Rapala is providing generous prizes. The instructors for the sports and fishing courses will provide close supervision, and the sailing club Þytur will have a rescue boat in the area. The competition starts at 13:30 and finishes at around 15:00. All children aged six to twelve are welcome and encouraged to take part.
