Beauty Pageant 2024 and Rosa Moeller receives an honorary award

Yesterday, Rosa K. Moeller was honoured with a civic award in Hafnarfjörður at a beautiful ceremony in Hellisgerði. She receives the award for her contribution to the community of Hafnarfjörður. In her spare time, Rosa regularly walks around the harbour area and nearby streets, single-handedly clearing up litter and weeds.
12 Austurgata, Venusarhús, is the recipient of the 2024 Tidy Award. „Both the building and the grounds are exceptionally tidy, and great care has been taken to preserve the appearance of this beautiful old house,' the citation states. On Tuesday, 24th September, around a dozen recipients received the 2024 Tidy Town Award from the City of Hafnarfjörður: the owners of eight homes and residential properties, two businesses, and the residents of Heiðvangur Street, which was named Street of the Year. „In recent years, this busy street has been remarkably well-kept, and residents are clearly united in keeping their surroundings tidy,“ the justification states.
The Business of the Year in Cosmetology are at 12 Ringhellu. Ísrör ehf and Málmar ehf received the award, and the justification states that the site's access is noticeably tidy despite the nature of the operations involved. „It is noticeable how much emphasis is placed on keeping the surroundings tidy.“
The gardens in Hafnarfjörður that have now been recognised are:
- Fagraberg 32. A well-kept, large plot in a green neighbourhood. It's clear that the residents take pride in keeping this large plot looking beautiful. Owners: Guðrún Harðardóttir and Pétur Einarsson.
- Fagraberg 10. „A beautiful, well-kept plot of land that is easily noticed when driving along Hamraberget.“ Owners: Kristbjörg Helgadóttir and Már Gunnþórsson.
- Ljósaberg 44.„A beautiful, well-kept plot of land and property that is prominent when driving along Hamraberg. Owners: Auður Traustadóttir and Guðmundur Ástvaldur Tryggvason.
- Braided Fields 6.„A well-laid out and tidy plot in a new housing development, but the plot is a corner plot and is prominent when driving into Fléttuvellir. Owners: Arndís Edda Jónsdóttir and Bergþór N. Bergþórsson.
- Glitvangur 13. „A much-renewed plot in a mature neighbourhood where residents have made good use of every square metre, but the plot is rather small and shows how well a designed outdoor space can be utilised. Owners: Garðar Vilhjálmsson and Gestrún Hilmarsdóttir.
- Hrauntunga 28.„A beautiful, mature garden with a very diverse selection of plants. A garden that is clearly well-tended and much admired.“ Owners: Anna Guðný Eiríksdóttir and Egill Jónsson.
- Latitude 12. „A dual-aspect house, funly designed with everything needed to use the garden as an extension of the house.“ Owners: Eyrún Ósk Friðjónsdóttir, Rós Sveinbjörnsdóttir and Kjartan Jónmundsson.
- 79 Strandgata. „A multi-family home in a leafy neighbourhood where the garden has been well-tended and developed so that residents can enjoy it for outdoor activities during the summer. A diverse selection of plants gives it a pleasant appearance.“ Owners: Fjóla Vatnsdal Reynisdóttir, Kristín Björk Hermannsdóttir and Sigrún Oddsdóttir.
- Midday Pass 20. Drangskarð 11. A neatly landscaped plot in a new neighbourhood with hedges, grass and planting. The properties received environmental certification in the summer of 2024. Owners: Rentur ehf.
