The Big Litter Pick will be held from morning until evening on Sunday, 27th April. The City of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents and staff of businesses in Hafnarfjörður to take an active part in the day and pick up litter like the wind in their immediate vicinity or in other well-chosen areas. Staff from the City of Hafnarfjörður at Ráðhúsið and Norðurhellu got a head start on the litter-picking by tidying up the areas around their workplaces.
We encourage residents and businesses to take part.
The City of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents and business staff in Hafnarfjörður to take an active part in the day and to litter pick like the wind in their immediate vicinity or in other well-chosen areas. Litter pickers are kindly asked to use clear rubbish bags during their clean-up to facilitate sorting and disposal. Litter pickers are also asked to report the locations where bags are left via The council's feedback portala place where you can take a photo with its precise location.
Through Suggestion portal It is also advisable to point out to the local council any areas that need special cleaning, or to offer suggestions on anything else that could be improved.

The President inaugurates this year's Great Plucking Day
The President of Iceland, Mrs Halla Tómasdóttir, will launch the Great Litter Pick Day this coming Sunday, 27th April. This litter-picking day has become well-established across the country. The launch of the Big Plokk Day will take place at Sorpa in Breiðholti at 10:00. The President will be joined by the President of the Rotary Movement, Jón Karl Ólafsson. They will be joined by members of the Rotary movement and members of Plokk á Íslandi. The special guest at the launch will be Elín Birna, a plokker from Eyrarbakki, along with others from her group who help newcomers get started in the sport.
The first Great Clear-up Day was held in 2018, but since then this festival of environmental awareness and tidiness has gone from strength to strength with each passing year.
