The implementation team has now finished its work!

The last two weeks, since the implementation of the new waste sorting system On completion, three separate teams went around the town and counted every single rubbish bin, at both private and blocks of flats. In addition, the labelling was checked and whether anything had gone wrong with the distribution.
The Implementation Team has, over the last 12 weeks, assembled around 6,500 containers and distributed them to approximately 10,500 households across 8 refuse collection districts in the City of Hafnarfjörður, along with plastic baskets and paper bag sets. Nearly 16,000 re-labelling of older rubbish bins have also been carried out alongside the distribution.
This autumn, the barrel arrangement will be reviewed, but details will be announced later. We would like to remind you of New sorting system (sorpa.is) where you can learn about the general system and how to sort the main types of waste.
