Vidistaðaskóli won the primary school quiz competition
Vidistaðaskóli won the capital region's primary school quiz competition. The final was held at Reykjavík City Hall, and the winning team took the cup home to Hafnarfjörður after a brilliant victory last night.
Vídistaðaskóli emerged victorious
„It was great fun and we are very proud of them,“ says Kristmundur Guðmundsson, one of the team captains of Víðistaðaskóli's quiz team, which won the capital region's primary school quiz competition last night. The final was held in Reykjavík Town Hall. Nína, Úlfar and Styrmir Ási made up the winning team, with Ragnar Halldór also on the school's quiz team. They took the cup back to Hafnarfjörður. Congratulations to them all.
Train and compete every week
There is great interest in quiz competitions at Víðistaðaskóli, and Kristmundur and Birkir Már Viðarsson run an elective course where the pupils prepare and compete every week. „Twenty-five are registered and often more turn up,“ says Kristmundur.
„The kids are keen to come and watch the competitions. It's a buzz and a culture,“ he says. Víðistaðaskóli also won the 'Do You Know the Answer?' primary school quiz in Hafnarfjörður.
„Then I thought it would be fun for them to face more great teams in a closer competition and see the team that beats us. But they won 25-15 in the semi-finals and 24-16 in the final.“
Heartfelt congratulations, Víðistaðaskóli.
